This large wine-growing region in Greece includes the Attica peninsula (with the state capital Athens), the Boeotia region (Viotia or Vöotia) to the north and the second largest Greek island Euboea with 3,865 km². About one third of the Greek wine is produced in central Greece. Due to the warm and dry climate, there is not a great variety of varieties compared to the other Greek wine-growing regions.
