The appellation for red, rosé and white wines is located in the French wine-growing region of Roussillon at the foot of the Pyrenees directly on the Spanish border. geographically it coincides with the liqueur wine area of Banyuls. The vineyards on the Mediterranean coast cover 430 hectares of vineyards in the four municipalities of Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbère, Collioure and Port-Vendres.
