The winery is located in the municipality of Pont-de-l'Isère in the French wine-growing region of Rhône. Its origins date back to 1936, when Camille Combier bought an estate with three hectares of vines and four hectares of apricot trees and also started farming. Maurice Combier converted the farm to organic farming as early as 1969, which was still very rare and a pioneering achievement at the time. Today, the farm is run by grandson Laurent Combier and his son David. The vineyards cover 25 hectares and are planted with Syrah, Marsanne and Roussanne. The vineyards are cultivated according to the certified rules of biodynamic viticulture, respecting the phases of the moon. All new plantings and replantings are done by mass selection in order to preserve the varietal typicity in the wines. The product range includes red wines and white wines from the AOC areas Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph. The flagship is the red wine AOC Crozes-Hermitage "Clos des Grives", which is made from pure Syrah. It is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with twice-daily overpumping, undergoes malolactic fermentation and is then aged for 12 months in new barrique barrels with monthly sensory testing.
