Editor note: Clear nose, light vegetal and herbaceous notes, yeasty traces, mineral notes, light yellow fruit aromas, earthy, stony and floral traces. Tranquil, fairly sweet fruit on the palate, vegetal traces, earthy and mineral notes, still has light yeasty traces, elegant acidity, restrained tannins, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, good persistence, creamy, spicy traces, light ethereal notes, very slightly muted, dried vegetal notes, touch of undergrowth and mineral notes, slightly phenolic, astringent notes on a sweetish finish.
Best to drink: Mid-2020-2026+

The production area is located in the federal state of Hessen in Germany. The vineyards cover 3,211 hectares of vine area starting at the lower Main river east of Wiesbaden and extending about 50 kilometres along the right bank of the Rhine to Lorch north of Rüdesheim. The "Rheingau Riesling Route" wine route runs along the right bank of the Rhine from Lorch to Hochheim. Emperor Charlemagne (742-814) allegedly had the first vineyard planted near today's Johannisberg Castle.
