The "Franz and Christine Netzl" winery is located in the municipality of Göttlesbrunn in the Lower Austrian Carnuntum wine region. The family has been growing wine since 1820. Franz Netzl is regarded as one of the founders of the red wine boom in this area. He runs the business together with daughter Christina Artner-Netzl. The vineyards comprise 27 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Altenberg, Aubühel, Bärnreiser, Haidacker, Neuberg and Schüttenberg. They are planted to 70% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, and 30% with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner,Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscatel and .
The land is cultivated in a near-natural way, with no use of pesticides(herbicides, insecticides, etc.). A complete conversion of production to organic viticulture is underway (2018). Throughout the entire vegetation cycle, a good supply of nutrients is guaranteed and, through appropriate foliage care, the best possible combination of light and shade is created for optimal ripening on the vine. Through selective manual harvesting in the vineyard and repeated checks in the cellar, only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in stainless steel tanks (white wines), in large wooden barrels or in (red wines).
The flagship of the house is the red wine cuvée "Anna-Christina Bärnreiser" (Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon), which is aged for 18 months in new barriques. Further premium wines are the 30 months in new barriques matured red wine cuvée "Privat", the 16 months in used barriques matured red wine cuvée "Edles Tal" (Zweigelt, Merlot, Syrah), Rubin Carnuntum Zweigelt and Grüner Veltliner Ried Bärnreiser. These top products are also bottled in Magnum bottles. Rosé wine and bottle-fermented sparkling wine are also produced. About 180,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of the Rubin Carnuntum Weingüter and Traditionsweingüter Österreich winegrowers' associations.
