The winery is located in the town of Saint-Émilion in the area of the same name (Bordeaux). It should not be confused with the neighbouring Château Faurie-de-Souchard. Faurie is an old name for the area where a great battle took place during the Hundred Years' War (1337 to 1453). It used to be part of the neighbouring Château Soutard, but was separated from it in 1850. Until 1936 the estate belonged to the Corbière family and was sold to the Aberlen couple in that year. Their daughter Françoise married in 1964 Jacques Capdemourlin, owner of Château Balestard La Tonnelle, Château Cap-de-Mourlin and Château Roudier. The farm is classified as "Grand Cru Classé", which was last confirmed in 2012. The vineyards cover eight hectares with Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The long-lasting red wine matures for 15 to 18 months in 50% new barriques.
