Château Climens

The winery is located in the municipality of Barsac in the Sauternes area (Graves, Bordeaux). It was classified as "Premier Cru Classé" in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. In 1971 it was bought by Lucien Lurton, who handed it over to his two daughters Brigitte and Bérénice Lurton in 1992. The vineyards cover 30 hectares and, unusually for Barsac, are planted exclusively with the Sémillon variety. The self-imposed, extremely low yield limit for Grand Vin is an incredible 7 hl/ha. The extremely long-lasting, noble sweet white wine is aged for 20 to 24 months in barriques that are about one third new. In terms of quality, it is often equated with Château d'Yquem. The second wine is called "Les Cyprès de Climens".
