2015 Johannisberg Hölle Pinot Noir, Rheingau, Germany

A somewhat developed nose of predominantly dark forest berries with a hint of cherries, dried-floral and leathery nuances, as well as restrained, suggested tobacco cask tones. Ripe, quite juicy, somewhat developed fruit, delicate acidity and soft, ripe tannins, slightly herbal in the background, again with a trace of dried-floral, smoky nuances, a hint of tobacco, certain power and good sustainability, mineral tones in the background, again a hint of cherries, suggested licorice, very good, juicy and finely spicy finish with pressure.

Editor note: Light toasted notes on the nose, mixed berries and cherries, touch of mixed pickles, hint of dried herbs, some tobacco, earthy and mineral traces, whiff of licorice. Firm, tart, juicy, fairly dark fruit on the palate, nutty aromas and some cocoa, hint of tobacco, fairly prominent, youtful, but also fairly well integrated tannins, persistent, salty in the background, smoky traces and a hint of leather, firm structure, fairly cool style, some old oak and more tobacco on a very good tart, juicy, minerally finish.
