2014 Johannisberg Hölle Pinot Noir trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Developed, clearly woody nose with developed, restrained fruit as well as earthy, dried-mushroomy and hinted at bacony aromas. Tart, relatively dark fruit, somewhat muted, but also with some juice, quite sandy, slightly drying tannin, smoky, dried-mushroomy, earthy and woody notes, some persistence and power, noticeable alcohol, some acid bite, bitter chocolate, a little salt in the background, good to very good, again a little drying and alcoholic finish. Not quite up to scratch anymore, but still good to drink
