Editor note: Fairly tart nose, red and black berries, delicate hint of cherries, dried vegetal notes and tobacco. Tart, polished, slightly juicy and predominantly dark fruit on the palate, youthful, fairly fine tannins, cedary wood, dark roasted notes in the background, good persistence, stil largely undeveloped, good to very good finish.

DOC area for red wine and rosé in the Italian region of Tuscany. The Vin Santo di Carmignano (or Vin Santo di Carmignano Occhio di Pernice), which is included until 2013, has been classified as a separate DOC. The Rosato di Carmignano DOC area, which was independent until 2013, was absorbed into the Barco Reale di Carmignano. The zone comprises the two municipalities of Carmignano and Poggio a Caiano in the province of Prato and is identical to that of the Carmignano DOCG area.
