2004 Carmignano DOC "Villa di Capezzana", Tuscany, Italy

Quite an intense nose with black berries and preserved cherries, some spicy oak, herbaceous notes and some grilled peppers. Quite juicy in the mouth with more dark fruit and prominent oak, some dry, sandy tannins, full-bodied, very modern style, not particularly deep, good finish.

Editor note: Spicy oak, slightly ethereal nose, preserved sour cherries and black berries, preserved and grilled red bell peppers. Dark fruit and prominent dark roasted oak on the palate, fairly concentrated fruit, fairly creamy with a light acid bite, some partly roasted powdered bell peppers, fairly prominent and slightly astringent tannins, fairly persistent, not particularly deep, but high in alcohol, modern style, moving slightly away from typical Chianti, astringent again on an otherwise good finish. Oak becomes more prominent with aeration.
