The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Cacciola and Cocacciara. The medium to late ripening, high-yielding vine produces fruity, acidic white wines with herbal aromas and ageing potential. It is mainly cultivated in the regions of Abruzzo (province of Chieti) and Apulia. It is also used as table grape. The area under cultivation in 2010 was 983 hectares
