2014 Gattinara DOCG, Piedmont, Italy

Clear, firm, very slightly bacony and iodine-like aroma of more red than black berries with herbal hints, a touch of capers, dried flowers and a hint of smoke. Ripe, slightly warm, somewhat melting fruit, nutty and sweet spicy tones, crumbly tannin, good persistence, a hint of smoke and bacon, mineral hints, a little tree bark, herbal tones, hints of tar, very good, again slightly sweet finish with iodine hints.
