2001 Gattinara DOCG Vigneto Valferana, Piedmont, Italy

Fairly mature nose, tart red berries, some preserved cherries and plums, undergrowth and dried flowers. Cool style, elegant and juicy on the palate, straightforward clear fruit, spicy oak, medium-fine tannins, good persistence, elegant acidity, very well balanced, refreshing style, medium long finish. Currently at its peak.
