DOC area for red and white wines in the Po Valley in the Italian region of Veneto. The wine from this area was already sung about in the 14th century by the poet Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374), who retired here in old age and started to cultivate wine. The area covers about 1,300 hectares of vineyards on volcanic and highly calcareous mountain slopes with the 603-metre-high Monte Venda south-west of Padua. These are entirely the municipalities of Arquà Petrarca, Galzignano Terme and Torreglia, as well as parts of the municipalities of Abano Terme, Baone, Battaglia Terme, Cervarese Santa Croce, Cinto Euganeo, Due Carrare, Este, Lozzo Atestino, Monselice, Montegrotto Terme,...

The most important are Alicante Noir, Begney, Bigney, Bigney Rouge, Bini, Black Alicante, Blue Merlot, Bordò, Cabernet del Cleto, Crabutet, Crabutet Noir, Crabutet Noir Merlau, Hebigney, Higney, Médoc Noir, Merlau, Merlot Black, Merlot Blue, Merlot Crni,...
