2018 Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione "Vigne di Montornello", Tuscany, Italy

Firm aroma of ripe, partly preserved black and red berries with cherry and plum notes, dried floral hints, some smoke, paprika, liquorice and tar. Ripe, tightly knit, juicy fruit, some toasty as well as cocoa and coffee spicy wood flavours, tight, youthful, quite fine tannins, persistent, lots of power, earthy and tarry notes in the background, chalk and salt, multilayered, still undeveloped, good depth, very good, firm, juicy and smoky-roasty finish with distinct minerality. Needs to mature.
