2018 Mayschoss Mönchberg Spätburgunder, Ahr, Germany

Firm, deep and concentrated bouquet of mixed berries and cherries with smoky-roasted wood notes, a hint of tar, dried herbs, a little dried flowers and clear minerality. Firm, ripe, yet rather cool, extremely juicy fruit, lively acidity and lots of crumbly tannin, again a little smoky and toasty wood spice, dense, deep and persistent on the palate, multi-layered, still little developed, a touch of tar, salty minerality, hinted of citrus zest, very good, firm, extremely juicy finish with tart spice. Great
