2018 Buttafuoco DOC "La Guasca", Lombardy, Italy

Firm, somewhat dried-vegetable to herbal, slightly open aroma of ripe predominantly black berries with a little sour cherry and citrus aromas as well as earthy and mushroomy notes. Quite tight, juicy fruit with present, fine sandy tannins and a certain acid bite, herbal-vegetable aromas on the palate, some smoke, in the background malt and a trace of juniper, coffee grounds and a hint of dark chocolate, very slightly drying on the palate, has power, some depth, peppery and salty notes, very good, rather tart finish with bite and again smoky wood notes.
