DOCG area (also Colline Teramane Montepulciano d'Abruzzo) for red wine in the Italian region of Abruzzo. It is a subzone in the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC area that was highly qualified in 2003. The Italian region (Ital. Abruzzi) with the capital L'Aquila is located east of Rome with an Adriatic coast about 130 kilometres long. It is divided into the provinces of Chieti, L'Aquila, Teramo and Pescara. Viticulture was introduced here by the Etruscans as early as the 7th century BC.
