2016 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Riserva Inferno "Sesto Canto", Lombardy, Italy

Tart and quite firm, deep, tarry nose with red and black berry notes, dried floral tones reminiscent of roses, leather, tobacco and a hint of smoke. Tight, tart and grippy in the mouth, tobacco and smoky notes, restrained fruit, some allspice, pepper and tar on the palate, dried coriander, nutty hints and a touch of cocoa, salt in the background, still rather undeveloped, persistent, good depth, iodine-like hints, rose aromas, plenty of salt, a hint of chilli, very good, firm, tart finish with a lot of grip, some tar, malt and some acid bite.
