2013 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Riserva Grumello "Sant'Antonio", Lombardy, Italy

Clear, firm and deep, nutty, tobacco, slightly bacony and a little dried-herbal aroma of red and a little black berries with mushroomy aromas, a hint of bacon, liquorice, black olives and mineral tones. Deep and complex in the mouth, ripe, juicy, tart fruit with nutty, tobacco and slightly tarry aromas, some herbs and a hint of smoke, hints of iodine on the palate, persistent, very fine, crumbly tannin, very elegant style, long, complex and fine, tart-juicy, spicy and intensely mineral finish. Quite certainly the greatest Valtellina we have encountered so far
