2009 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Riserva Sassella "Ultimi Raggi", Lombardy, Italy

Fairly firm nose, tobacco and old oak, ripe red and a few black berries, dried herbs, hint of peppery spice, touch of bacon, dried flowers, mineral notes. Firm, tart red as well as some black fruit on the palate, dried vegetal, earthy and peppery notes, some undergrowth, persistent and complex, elegant acid bite, fairly prominent fine, dusty, mouthwatering tannins, salty and light floral notes, hint of mushrooms in the background, elegant herbaceous aromas, good depth, some pomegranate, becomes even fresher with aeration, citrus zests in the background, some sesame, elegant, juicy and spicy on a long finish.
