2006 Valtellina Superiore DOCG Sassella "Ultimi Raggi", Lombardy, Italy

Old-fashioned, tobacco and dried-mushroom scent with leathery tones, aromas of dried black and red berries, leather, coffee grounds and a hint of soup herbs. Ripe, juicy, partly preserved fruit in the mouth, leathery and old-wood to tobacco aromas, very fine tannins with a delicate feel, delicate acid bite, a bit of candy and dark caramel on the palate, coffee and cocoa, also a little tar, earthy mineral notes, persistent, certain depth, a hint of bacon and smoke, complex, very good to long, tart-spicy and jammy-juicy finish.
