2016 Barbera d'Asti DOCG Superiore "La Bogliona", Piedmont, Italy

Clear, firm, deep and quite polished nose of predominantly black berries with a touch of tar and tobacco, coffee-like hints, a hint of liquorice and floral nuances. Firmly woven, ripe and very juicy, tart dark fruit with quite present, yet crumbly tannins, dried herbs in the background, persistent, has power and certain polish, lasting, certain depth, notes reminiscent of mint and sage, salt in the background, still very young, very good to long, dense, juicy finish with bite. Needs more time.
