1988 Barbaresco DOCG Tettineive®, Piedmont, Italy

Clearly ripened nose of leaves, soy sauce, nutshells and tobacco with dried red berry flavors, some black berries, juniper and slightly animal tones. Tart, slightly brittle fruit on the palate, nutty, old and undergrowth and peppery, again leaves on the palate, some root vegetables and laurel, fairly persistent, lively acidity, slightly rough tannins, noticeable acid bite, soup herbs and soy in the background, very good, light drying finish with a bitterness reminiscent of walnut.
